Lanman & Kemp Correspondence from Turkey

Smyrna, Turkey, May 14, 1864, Cousinery & fils senders cachet, manuscript rated 20 neukreuzer for transit from Turkey to Austria and manuscript 65 neukreuzer in blue for Prussian Closed Mail prepaid rate to the United States. Sent to Trieste Austria, where the blue ink X was applied to show the cover was entirely prepaid, red crayon 50 neukreuzer credit to Prussia from prepaid foreign rate of German Austrian Postal Union (Austria retained 15 nkr transit fee, Aachen exchange (indistinct date) Paid 23 cts credit to United States from Prussia, then via Inman line Etna from Liverpool May 25, 1864, "N.Y. AM. PKT. PAID JUN 6" exchange office marking. 

Smyrna, Turkey, October 7, 1865, Cousinery & fils senders cachet, per French Ligne de Syrie paquebot Gange, Marseilles & Lyon October 14 transit, Paris October 16 transit, then per HAPAG line Saxonia from Southampton October 18, 1865,  manuscript rated 126 / 90 (US notes / coin) triple rate (manuscript 3 in orange at left) and manuscript 63 cent (3 x 21 cent) debit to France in black.

Smyrna, Turkey, November 18, 1865, per Volga 18 Nov. 65, paquebot name of ship marking, Paquebots de la mediterranee marking, Marseille November 21, 1865 transit, Marseille a Paris November 25, 1864 marking, per Inman line City of Boston, "N.Y. AM. PKT. DEC 13, 30 OR 42 U.S. NOTES" depreciated currency exchange office marking, “21" debit to France in black.

Smyrna, Turkey, January 18, 1867, via French Ligne X paquebot Indus, Marseilles & Lyon January 25 transit, then per Inman line City of Baltimore from Queenstown January 31, 1867, 21 cent debit to France in black, N.Y. AM. PKT. FEB 14 30 OR 39 U.S. NOTES" depreciated currency exchange office marking.
